The hydralic brake system was assembled, filled and pressurised. Now we have working brakes which is great news!

The graphics have also been finished and sent off to the printers – we cant wait to show you the finished kart!

Building Futures with T Levels

Pictured: Mr Headeach, Head of School, Wallace and Bev Parfitt and some of the other T level construction students.

On 13 February to mark T Level Thursday as part of National Apprenticeship Week 2025, we welcomed Bev Parfitt, Social Value Co-ordinator for Beard Construction who joined us to listen to a presentation from Wallace, one of our Year 12 T Level students who is doing his industry placement with Beard Construction at their Warmley site.

It was fantastic to hear how the placement is bringing the classroom learning into context with the hands-on element of his studies which makes up 20% of his course and it was brilliant to hear that Wallace aspires to be a site manager in the future.

Keep up the amazing work Wallace and we have no doubt that you will achieve your goal.

IKB Go-Kart Build

IKB Go-Kart Build

We have an exciting project on the go here at IKB.

STEM ON TRACK is a unique programme designed to fuel students' passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths and allows students to build their very own racing kart.

Students who will be joining IKB in September from local schools across Bristol and Bath undertook the second build session yesterday after school.

During the session, the students split into teams to focus on different parts of the kart. They had a lot to do and some complex aspects of the build. They completed the rear axle, front steering assembly and the steering column – all important parts.

Our year 10 and sixth form STEM Leaders were there to support and check over their work.

We'll keep you updated on how the build is progressing right up until race day when the team will race against other schools.

Many thanks to our kart sponsors, Apex Pumps and DevMonki for supporting this fantastic STEM programme.
